15 Interesting and Strange facts that Apply to Dreams

Dreams are a separate chapter in our unconscious life. Sometimes we are afraid of them, other times they make us feel euphoric but we always try to find out what is hidden behind them. See 15 facts that reveal what finally happens in the mysterious world of dreams, what symbolism is transferred to our consciousness and how much we can, in the end, trust them.

1- Everyone is dreaming

All people have dreams (unless they suffer from an extreme psychological disorder). If you think you have no dreams, the truth is that you just forget them.

2- In our sleep we see only persons we know

our minds do not create new faces - in our dreams we see people we already know or who we may have once met. The brain has plenty of options to use!

3- Not everyone has color dreams

12% of people have black and white dreams. The rest see in color. Research from 1915 to the 1950s found that the majority of dreams are black and white. Today it is claimed that only 4.4% of dreams, under the age of 25, are black and white.

4- We forget 90% of dreams

Within five minutes of waking up, you have forgotten half of your dreams. For the next 10 minutes, remember only 10% of what you dreamed of.

5- The blind dream

People who are blinded after birth can see images in their dreams. Those who are born blind do not see images but have vivid dreams in terms of sounds, smells and emotions.

6- Dreams have symbolism

If you dream of something, such as a death, it does not mean that the dream has anything to do with it. Dreams speak in deeper symbolic language and rarely have superficial associations.

7- Feelings

The most common emotion in dreams is stress. Research also shows that negative emotions are more common than positive ones.

8- You can have from 4 to 7 dreams in one night

On average, a person can dream for one to two hours every night and see up to seven different dreams!

9- And the animals are dreaming

Research on many animals has shown that animals also dream. If you see a dog sleeping, you will notice that it makes strange noises as if chasing someone in its dream!

10- Paralysis of the body

REM movement is a condition characterized by rapid eye movements and occupies 20-25% of sleep (one and a half to two hours). During it the body paralyzes through a brain mechanism in order to prevent bodily movements that can be triggered during sleep.

11- Merge the dream

Our mind interprets all the stimuli when we are awake and then makes them part of our dreams. This means that while we are sleeping we can hear some real noise and include it in the dream (eg someone is playing the piano while we are sleeping, and we are dreaming that we are in a concert).

12- Men dream differently than women

About 70% of those who dream of men are other men, while in the dreams of women the percentage of men-women is divided. Also, men have more "aggressive" emotions in their sleep than women.

13- Dreams that foretell the future

Survey results have shown that 18% to 38% of the population has seen at least one dream that has been a sign of an event. And the people who believe in prophetic dreams reach 98%.

14- If you snore , you can not dream

Although it has not been scientifically proven, the majority claim that anyone who snores does not dream!

15- There may be orgasm during a dream

There is a case, especially if you see a dream of sexual content, to orgasm in your sleep. The feeling can be as strong and intense as when you have sex with your partner.
